"I’ve been dabbling with Burgundy & Rhone.....
..... trying to find values! Lots
of trade tastings with growers who want to sell their wines here in
NY. Prices are through the roof on 99% of them. Values are extremely
hard to find in Burgundy.
One importer is trying to change that… Bertrand Dementoux. Bertrand
is a unique importer. He imports small producers that have converted
to Practicing Organic and Biodynamic Viticulture. He visits every
producer, walks their vineyards, meets the families, talks endlessly
with winemakers… really investigates each estate.
For us? - Great Wines at Great Prices!!
Apparently his wineries report back to him that they are tired of
seeing NY wine stores blatantly overcharging for their wines. To
think that wine stores over-charge… who would do such a thing????
Seriously though, we’re very fairly priced here at Pop’s and that’s
why Bertrand wants to work with us more… A lot of small
importers are starting to find us… The high prices don’t help the
wineries and it’s really bad for the importer.
It’s not Bertrand’s fault… His wines are seriously Under-Valued
Gems, worthy of the Outrageous markups. Bertrand and his producers
want to make “GREAT RED & WHITE BURGUNDY ACCESSIBLE TO CONSUMERS” WE
ALL DESERVE FAIRLY PRICED BURGUNDY!
Wow, sounds like our policy here at Pop’s for the last 65 years!!!

Elegant, nuanced, smooth and dense with rich flavors of lemons,
pears, and fresh citrus on the palate. A crisp minerality and stone
fruit blends in seamlessly.

Vinification here is on the lees in stainless steel tanks, which produces a

Bertrand’s Savigny is in the Sweet Spot, under $30!
Jean-Jacques Girard took over his share of vines from the renowned estate
Girard Vollot in 1998. The vines are 50 year old vines situated on south
facing slopes in limestone clay soils.
A deep ruby red wine with striking fruit aromas. A rounded palate it oozes
silky, spicy red fruit flavours and has a lingering finely textured finish.
The domaine of Jean-Jacques Girard extends over 18 hectares in the Cote D'Or
region of Burgundy. It is divided among the villages of Nuit St George,
