Ted's pick... Mesmerizing Malvasia Bianco....
..... for all your fish dishes this Summer! 2017 Caravaglio Salina Bianco is a steal for the $$

Malvasia!

A weird grape from Italy that is mesmerizing-ly delicious.

Great article from the NY times over the weekend on how people should be drinking "Weird Grapes."

On that notion, here is a weird but totally delicious dry white wine with pervassive energy not often tasted in inexpensive wines.

A Really unique wine and great value!

2017 Malvasia, Caravaglio, Salina Bianco

Malvasia from Italy's Salina Islands off the coast of Sicily

Tastes like tropical fruit, guava and salty sea air with a bone dry long lasting finish. Very well balanced... and a steal for the price!

Amazing on its own, if you enjoy a wine with great acidity, but truly shines with any fish dish. A slightly salty after taste refreshes. Excellent light and dry "Weird Grape" wine.

If you hang out with me, you drink a lot of Weird Grapes! Grab a case of this for Summer time fish dishes....

Ted's pick... Awesome Sancerre Organic & Delicious
"2016 Domaine Alain Girard Sancerre Blanc at a great price!

Sancerre Season is here…

There are a lot of Sauvignon Blanc’s abound these days but the best is still from Sancerre.

You gotta try this one.

2016 Sancerre Domaine Alain Girard & Fils.

Domaine Alain Girard is a small producer doing everything in an Organic/Biodynamic fashion and you can really taste how alive the wine is!

Wow!!

For the Quality and the Price… This is my favorite Sancerre!! Bright and pale golden color is unmistakably Sauvignon with a fresh, citrus palate with herbaceous notes of hay and nettle. Richly textured but with crisp acidity and textbook minerality. The finish is elegant with the typical purity and refreshment of excellent Sancerre.

This beautiful wine brings out the smoother side of Sauvignon Blanc with its apple and pear flavors along with the ripeness that is cut by lime acidity. Stony clay over limestone soils is what makes this Sancerre have the cut and precision you taste. This classic Sancerre will accompany a wide variety of seafoods, chicken dishes and white meats or you can simply enjoy it on its own while watching sunsets!

Prices keep climbing on Sancerre whites due to Frosts, Hail and low production the last few years.

Grab this value while it’s still under $30!!!

Drink this wine over the next few Summers.

Cheers and enjoy!

Ted's pick... You must buy a case.....
..... of this Incredible White Wine VALUE: The White Wine I can't stop smelling... My White Wine of Summer 2018 Chignin Vin de Savoie White

This is MY White Wine of the Summer!!!

White Flowers, Incredibly fresh and gorgeous, bone dry and impossible to stop smelling!!!!

The confusing verbiage on this wine may make you never pick up the bottle – but TRUST ME!!!

This is THE Wine of the Summer!

2017 Chignin, Domaine Gonnet, Vin de Savoie

At dinner with a good friend last week, we were drinking Powerful reds and the Sommelier presented us with his favorite wine he’d tried all month.

The 2017 Chignin explodes from the glass fragrantly. It is very pure, showing a melon rind edge to the green almond and light pear notes, with a refreshing finish. The grape is "Jacquere" and it is grown in the Savoie region in the heart of the Savoie Region in the French Alps.

The Gonnet Chignin is hand harvested, directly pressed and fermented in a tank. It is aged 6 months on fines lees. This vineyard used sustainable practices which partially explains why this wine has so much VERVE.

A tremendous value!

Tremendous Price!!

Pick up a case of Chiggy!!!!

Ted's pick... 2014 Brega 95 Point Explosive Spanish Red.....
..... that gives Chateauneuf's a run for the $$! Limited!

I tasted this wine in Spain a year ago and it was my WOTT (Wine of the Trip).

The 2014 Brega, from Bodegas Breca.

I went nuts for it!

Full bodied, rich, super smooth, not sweet, yet very intense with layers of fruit… Wow Wine!

Very small production (READ BELOW) from less than a ton of fruit per acre.

As a result of my trip, Pop's Wine & Spirits was one THREE stores selling it...

BOOM!

Big Press has landed!

Grab what's left...

Extremely Limited!!!!

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
“The flagship Grenache from Breca is the 2014 Brega. One hundred percent Grenache from higher elevation, hillside parcels and aged in 40% new oak, it offers a powerful, pedal-to-the-metal style in its ripe black cherry, melted licorice, roasted herbs, and meaty aromas and flavors. Deep, rich and opulent on the palate, with a terrific mid-palate, hints of vanilla oak, and no hard edges, it's a sexy, high-quality wine that will give many a top Chateauneuf-du-Pape a serious run for its money. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age (decant if drinking anytime soon) and will keep for a decade.”

Bodegas Breca owns and leases vineyards exclusively of the original clones of Garnacha, planted between 1900 and 1975.

OLD VINES… GREAT LOCATION…

Brega, the top cuvée from Bodegas Breca, is produced from the two oldest vineyards that the winery owns, planted in 1900 and 1911. The oldest of the two vineyards is planted at 1,000M. above sea level (3,300ft. ) in iron rich red slate soils produces wines with a tremendous intensity of deep black fruit. The vineyard planted in 1911 is planted at 1050M. above sea level (3,440ft.) in gray slate soils, which lend an elegance and minerality to the wine. The altitudes of these vineyards are responsible for a distinct microclimate characterized by drastic temperature swings between day and night.

In the height of the growing season, it is not atypical to swing from 40 ̊F at 8AM to 95 ̊F by noon. These conditions are responsible for slower phenolic ripening and as a result, produce very elegant wines with phenomenal acidity.

The profile of the wine is extremely elegant and focused on the linear, pure expression of the Garnacha from Calatayud.

Ted's pick... Best Piedmont Rose in the store
"G. D. Vajra Rosabella Rosato is Awesome!

Outstanding Piedmont, Italy Rosato!

From this most traditional Barolo estate in the heart of Piemonte, G. D. Vajra, comes this summer gem that captures the terroir of Piedmont. A lot cheaper than the flight, much easier to consume (and afford!) bottle.

For those of you don’t consume Barolo on a daily basis (who does?), the Vajra family is one of the most respected in the region, and their Barolos outrank many of those that are more well-known.

They farm organically, and deeply respect their land.

Their 2017 “Rosabella” Rose wine is incredible!

Fresh cantaloupe and watermelon, with some sea salt, distinct minerality, and electric acidity, showing off the limestone soil. Complex and layered, yet super enjoyable to just drink.

You love the GD Vajra red wines that are always featured on our shelves, now try their incredible rosé! A Nebbiolo based blend from one of the best producers in the Piedmontese region, the wine itself is even more beautiful than the label! 60% Nebbiolo, 20% Barbera and 20% Dolcetto

For the adventurous Rose drinker…

Ted's pick... 2013 Pommard Domaine Lejeune 1er Cru "Poutures" in a great place now!
"Red Burgundy is so hit and miss and prices have jumped the last 10 years.

Here’s a Quality Premier Cru Pommard for less than $50!

Part of the adventure is finding them at peak… and Wow!

This Pommard is at Peak now and drinking really well.

2013 Domaine Lejeune Pommard Premier Cru "Poutures"

Red Burgundy is hard to resist when they are as compelling as this one is NOW.

Great acid, refreshing, tart strawberries, great dry finish…

Perfect with Salmon dishes.

If you love these kinds of wines... you gotta check out this Pommard.

Clear, bright fresh purple with a very pretty peony and red fruit nose. Amazing depth of fruit up front, then thickens in texture on the palate.

Pinot Noir is responsible for some of the world’s finest wines.

Two hundred miles south-east of Paris lies the famous and historic wine region, known in French as Bourgogne. The Cote d'Or, the heartland of the region, consists of two distinct sub-regions split on either side of the town of Beaune. Sandwiched between Beaune and Volnay, Pommard produces some of the finest and most powerful reds in Burgundy. The river Dheune running east to west splits the commune into two. The finest of the 28 premier crus lie on either side of the river. Those vineyards closer to the center, near the Dheune, such as Les Poutures and Le Clos Blanc, are often overlooked by label hunters, but consistently produce great examples of Pommard.

To get High Quality Premier Cru Pommard for less than $50 is CRAZY!!!
