Ted's pick... Rose DEAL of the Summer
"2017 Laurent Miquel Cinsault Syrah is unbelievable and $7+

All year round I like to find Rose Clearance deals. It’s mind blowing to find a wine of this caliber on the market. And… it’s a 2017!!!!

The current vintage and $7+ this is drinking so much better than any Angel!!!

2017 Laurent Miquel Rose Cinsault Syrah, IGP Pays D’Oc, Vin de France

From the moment you pop the bottle, the aromas get you started… Characterized by a beautiful pale pink robe, this Cinsault Syrah epitomizes the best of southern French rosés with fruit-forward flavours and perfect balance. The Cinsault adds a fresh, smooth texture to the blend and the Syrah reveals delicious red fruit flavours with a dramatic color.

There is nothing more delicious on a hot Summer afternoon than a super fresh, crisp and clean glass (or two) of French Rose!

In Provence – you pay…

In this little GEM, You SAVE!

No ratings yet that I can find, I’ll be buying cases of this for Summer Parties!

Ted's pick... A soft well rounded 2012 Red Bordeaux that's drinking great now
90 Points Vinous
"Selling so many 2015’s… I’ve had some requests for more drinkable reds.

Here’s one from a great producer that’s under the radar with TOP Winemaking talent at the helm.

2012 Chateau Puygueraud, Cotes de Bordeaux

Made by the same winemaking team as at Vieux Chateau Certain and Le Pin… both very prestigious properties. And very expensive.

Here’s their 2012 which is drinking great now for it’s pricepoint.

Antonio Galloni likes it too…

90 Points - Vinous
"The 2012 Puygueraud is a soft, supple red to drink now and over the next handful of years. Licorice, tobacco, menthol, plums and earthy notes are all laced together nicely in the glass. Medium in body and already quite forward, the 2012 is an excellent choice for drinking over the next handful of years. An intriguing array of sweet and savory notes lingers on the inviting finish. The 2012 is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec." (90 pts.)

Stellar wine at a bargain price.

Ted's pick... Mouthwatering "Arneis" from Barolo Country
"2017 Cordero di Montezemolo Langhe Arneis is a great dry white value! Prodigious and revered producer meets resurrected varietal in this hear me roar and highly expressive roero arneis.

“Arneis” is a Summertime white from Barolo country! Famous for their age-worthy Barolo's, Cordero di Montezemolo produces a small amount of "Arneis" that is a stunning value ($15+) and a Pop's favorite.

The 2017 has just arrived state-side and will also be a big hit.

Since 1340, 19 generations one after another, have managed the Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra, the center of the production of Barolo wine.

At the very heart of the Langhe, square in the center of the Barolo region, there is a cedar tree that has stood over 30 hectares of vines for 150 years. Year after year, this prized stretch of land works silently to produce some of the wines that have made Piedmont famous all over the world.

The Monfalletto estate belonged to the noble Falletti family for over six centuries before becoming the property of Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his children, Elena and Alberto. In 1940, the farmland was handed down to the next eligible heir Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo (father of Giovanni), grandson of the Marchioness Luigia Falletti, who for years had helped his grandmother take care of the vineyards and process the grapes. In the years afterwards, Paolo provided the major push in research and experimentation in wine making and wine tasting, as well as in marketing the company's wine on a global scale, which until then had only been limited to regional sales.

Today Monfalletto – Cordero di Montezemolo is one of the most historic and dynamic presences in the Barolo area, with highly esteemed products that are exported and appreciated around the world.

The 2017 Langhe Arneis is Bright straw color with an intense bouquet of peach and acacia flowers, chamomile, melon and yellow flowers. Inviting and fresh with a typical note of a slightly bitter finish.

Splendid accompaniment for antipasti and springtime first courses including omelets with wild herbs, savory pies, vegetable soups, stuffed squash blossoms, freshwater seafood and ‘vitello tonnato’ (veal cutlets with tuna sauce).

Excellent as an aperitivo.

Make sure you grab some Arneis white wine from Cordero! Every vintage has been great the last few years! I’m still drinking the 2015’s at home and it is still super fresh!

Ted's pick... Everybody loves a Chateauneuf for $14+
"2015 Tessellae GSM 93 Pointer is a Rockstar. Everybody loves a Chateauneuf for $14+

When these wines come around, you have to pounce!

2015 Domaine Lafage Tessellae Old Vines GSM

A GREAT Value Rhone Red Blend from Languedoc-Roussillon, France.

Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage farm 160 hectares of vines located just south of the capital of French Catalonia, Perpignan. Some of their vineyards are situated a few kilometers from the Mediterranean while others can be found in the foothills of the Pyrenees. This range of sites allow them to make concentrated reds. Benefiting from a warm, dry climate, the estate is farmed organically.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"An incredible value from Jean-Marc Lafage is the 2015 Tessellae Old Vines Grenache Syrah Mourvedre, which is 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from 70-year-old vines and brought up all in concrete tank. A ripe, expansive, full-bodied and undeniably sexy red that has beautiful notes of kirsch liqueur, blueberries, pepper and violets, it has ripe and present tannin, straight up fabulous purity and a great finish. This is another one of those wines where you just have to tell yourself you spent more than you actually did. The wine really is this good.

Ted's pick... Exhilarating Value Chablis under $20
"2016 Jean Marc Brocard; Perfect Chicken Juice!

Chablis is the Northern most part of Burgundy France, North of Lyon. A fun village to visit as you can park the car and walk from winery to winery all day long.

Values have been tough to find as every year there is a frost or a hail storm taking away 30-40% of the production. Less wine – equals higher prices.

Jean Marc Brocard, somehow, creates a delicious full bodied chardonnay that’s under $20 by the case.

2016 Chablis Jean-Marc Brocard, Saint Claire

Located near Auxerre city, in the valley of the Serein river, Chablis is the centre of one of France’s eldest wine-growing regions.

150 million years ago, during the Jurassic era, the sea drew back from the Chablis area. It let a lot of small sea sediments -Exogyra virgula - in the soil called Kimmeridgien made up of layers of stones and clay. Thanks to this soil, the roots of the vine will get the specific mineral and salty flavours of Chablis wines.

Thanks to eco-friendly methods, Jean-Marc Brocard is still trying to respect this precious terroir in order to make high quality wines.

The Sainte Claire Chablis expresses with a great deal of finesse the typicity of its Chablis soil: the Kimmeridgian.

Made from Chardonnay grapes, this 2016 vintage expresses itself beautifully! On the nose, notes of lemon, yellow fruits. The mouth is dense and smooth, balanced, and tangy.

90 Points - Wine Spectator
"Pure and bracing, this white offers lemon, green apple and honey flavors. Balanced, winding down languidly on the earth-tinged finish. Drink now through 2020."

Perfect with grilled chicken all year round!

Ted's pick... 95 Rated Pomerol under $50!
"2015 Chateau Beauregard, Pomerol

Sign me up!

2015 Chateau Beauregard, Pomerol

Visiting Beauregard, huge strides and investments could be seen at the winery. This is a winery on the way UP the Quality Ladder, and the price is still LOW for what’s in the bottle.

Arriving this week…

95 points James Suckling
"Impressive and deep-set plums, cherries and violets, not to mention licorice and lightly spicy oak-derived accents, meet with mocha on the nose. The palate has a really impressive core of fleshy, bright red-plum and blueberry flavors all wrapped in supple tannins that have freshness and effortless depth. Try from 2022." (2/2018)
