Ted's pick... French Sauvignon Blanc that tastes like Sancerre for a great price $11+!!
"Affordable Sancerre is in high demand these days. Bad weather, lower crop levels leaving prices climbing… some Sancerre’s are into the $30+ range… that’s steep!

I like finding the values…

2017 Sauvignon Blanc, Le P’tit Berthier, Vin de France is outrageously similar in taste to a fine Sancerre blanc. This small family does make Sancerres' so it is not unforeseen that they could be putting that juice into a lower end bottling.

$11+!!!!

Sancerre for $11 – send me cases…

Explosively aromatic with flower and fruit fragrances with tart orange, cut grass and fresh floral aromas. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, crisp and youthful, with a good core of fruit, fine soil signature, snappy acids and good length.

This is a wine you’ll find in Brooklyn/NYC for $17.99

It’s worth it!

I like $11+ at Pop’s A LOT BETTER!!!!!

Impressive depth for a wine at this price point, and it will only get better over the coming months. Great freshness and vivacity. Fresh fruits and touch of thyme are often found in this lively and bright wine.

Stock up… It’s gonna be Sancerre season for a long time!"

Ted's pick... Great under $10 Pinot Noir Value: Say HI to Lulumi!
"Lulumi… not that easy to say, but very memorable when you try the wine!

This is the kind of wine you are going to over-pay for in Brooklyn and NYC as it drinks $13… but why pay $13 if you can get it for $10 and change here at Pop’s!

The 2017 is bursting at the seams with fruit and is Outstanding for $10+ by the case!

Sourced from the South of France by Carrie and Philippe Marchal, who both worked in the wine business in New York City before moving to a tiny village in the middle of the farmlands and vineyards of France with their two daughters, Lucienne and Emilie. (Lulumi is a combination of the French nicknames for the girls, Lulu and Mimi)

The 2017 Lulumi Pinot Noir has an Intense color with a precise bouquet of black cherry and raspberry. The palate is medium bodied with red berry fruit and a long, elegant finish.

Aged in neutral French oak and composed of fruit from 50 year old vines.

This is NOT TO BE MISSED for VALUE HUNTERS!

Great story, Great Wine, GREAT PRICE!

Ted's pick... 91 Point Cotes du Rhone Villages 2015 Perfect with Burgers - $12+ by the case
"A respite yesterday allowed for tasting reds again without 125% Humidity. Cotes du Rhone 2015/2016 all on display…

91 POINT RHONE RED, PERFECT WITH WHAT YOU’RE GRILLING!

2015 Cotes du Rhone Villages, Cairanne, Domaine Brotte

Chateauneuf producers make the best value Cotes du Rhone wines. This “Cairanne” Village wine has the guts and glory for a great $17.99 level wine – no doubt, that’s the price in Brooklyn/NYC…

I like $12+ a lot better…

From a renowned Châteauneuf du Pape producer: Domaine Grosset. Domaine Grosset sells off some terrific juice and Domaine Brotte bottles this terrific Cairanne value!

Sustainable farming, hand harvesting and aging in 100 year old French oak vats and concrete vats creates a wine of incredible texture, complexity and quality.

91 Points, Wine Advocate
“A kirsch, strawberry and floral-dominated beauty that has plenty of texture, medium to full-bodied richness and no hard edges. It’s a smoking value. This Châteauneuf du Pape based estate continues to go from strength to strength, and they fashion a bevy of beautiful wines from throughout the Southern Rhône. In almost all cases, the wines over-deliver.”

This wine is delicious with grilled and barbequed meats as well as bacon cheeseburgers.

Ted's pick... White Peach explosion 93 Point 2015 White Bordeaux
"Clos des Lunes from Domaine De Chevalier is irresistible!

Classic White Bordeaux from a superstar winery.

On my Annual pilgrimage to the holy land… Bordeaux France of course… At almost every estate visit, it is their White Wines the Bordelais are most proud of (or need to sell... lol)!

Domaine de Chevalier, Haut Brion, Pape Clement, Smith Haut Lafitte… these are the houses making THE BEST White Bordeaux’s.

Domaine de Chevalier has spun off a few different projects that are aimed at getting GREAT whites in the hands of the everyday wine consumer.

The 2015 Clos des Lunes is WORTH YOUR TIME getting to know…

Domaine de Chevalier always makes one of the top White Bordeaux's of every vintage. At $79-130 per bottle, that's a little rich for most of us.

For $20... This is absolutely incredible.

The 2015 Clos des Lunes Lune Blanche is simply stunning for the $$$.

Give White Bordeaux a shot!

Pale gold color, bright and shiny. Intense nose of citrus lemon, grapefruit with exotic white fruit lychee. Generous aromas of acacia blossom and honeysuckle. Medium bodied mouthfeel with pulpy and creaminess and extremely good tension, balance, and precision.

Critics are loving this too.

93 Points - James Suckling
"Beautiful sliced pear, apple and stone aromas and flavors. Full body, bright and fresh."

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
"I love the whites from this vintage and the 2015 Clos des Lunes Blanc is well worth seeking out. Brought up all in barrel and a blend of mostly Sémillon, it’s a vibrant, intense white offering lots of caramelized lime, mint, honeysuckle, and a hint of minerality, full-bodied richness, impressive concentration, and great acidity. It can be drunk over the coming 4-5 years or cellared for even longer.

A 70/30 blend of mostly Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Don't miss this!

Perfect Summer wine!!!

And a great price too!

Ted's pick... Vatan 2015 Toro Red Wine that's gonna spin your head in circles.....
.....when you taste it and see how little you paid!

Two words… Jorge Ordonez. Those words carry power and excitement in the wine business.

When Jorge pulls you aside and says… “You gotta try this ****, it will blow your mind!” You gotta believe you’ve just heard the Gospel…. In this instance, a new discovery Red Wine from Toro Spain that’s gonna spin your head in circles when you taste the quality and see how little it set you back for a bottle.

With escalating prices in California and Bordeaux, Wine Enthusiasts are pouncing on Spain for values in all price categories.

The 2015 Vatán is 100% Tinta de Toro grapes grown in an old vineyard in Toro that was unaffected by Phylloxera in the 20th century. The resulting exceptional 2015 Vatan red spent 22 months in new French oak barrels. Jorge Ordóñez wanted to show you in this wine a singularity of wine with the capacity to surprise a lot of wine enthusiasts.

To create a wine of these characteristics entails taking a step further in the knowledge of this grape in this geographical area of Toro.

Ted's pick... 2016 Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet - Delicious for Lobster: Full bodied & Exotic Chardonnay!
"We’ve beefed up the White Burgundy section. One of the standouts for sure is several white wines from Domaine Alain Chavy.

The Chavy family has had roots in Puligny for almost 200 years. In 1976, after years of selling grapes to negociants, they began to bottle wine under their own label. Alain and his brother worked with their father, Gerard up until his retirement. The brothers worked the Domaine together until 2003 until they split and decided to create their own domaines.

Though Alain does not own any land in the Grand Cru area, he is able to exude the attributes and quality of Puligny Montrachet through its finest premier crus.

Alain makes a full bodied style of Puligny with ripe (but never over ripe) fruit balanced by crisp acidity designed to benefit long aging.

I prefer them younger.

This 2016 is a knockout… and still quite affordable. (If your pockets are deeper – The Folatieres and Charmes bottlings are sick…)

2016 Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet

Full Bodied Chardonnay with exotic touches of white peach and yellow flowers. In the mouth the wine has a wonderful sour lemon note that complements the energy and concentration conveyed by this village wine. Very harmonious with hints of ginger and white pepper creating a complex and quite compelling finish.

Crop levels were low on 2016’s so don’t hesitate to grab more once you taste this phenomenal white wine…

Now all you need is a 3 pound lobster….
