"If you hire me tonight to run your wine shop.....
...... the first thing I'm buying is some of this. In
the world of wine retail this is an absolute no brainer. 93pts Parker and
the review calls this a look alike for Grand Cru white Burgundy. Not village
white Burgundy, or even 1er Cru white Burgundy...GRAND CRU white
Burgundy...It's a cutting edge producer in Chile. Excellent label, and
basically delivers a very polished, slippery, "Grand Cru" like palate."
Christian Troy, Fine Wine Consultant, T. Edwards
"The 2006 Chardonnay exhibits mineral, almond, white peach, and
poached pear aromas. On the palate it displays elegance, a creamy texture,
layers of flavor, and a striking resemblance to Grand Cru white Burgundy. It
is a steal at the asking price.
Leyda appears to be Chile’s premier cool-climate grape growing region if
these Garces Silva wines under the Amayna label are any indication." ($25)

flowers. Full-bodied, with seamless yet chewy tannins and a long finish.
Lasts a long time. Best after 2012." ($61)

Another No-Brainer 2005 Red Bordeaux...
"This wine drinks $30! And at $17+ by the case this is a no
brainer purchase. Get it while it lasts.
Wonderful aromas of Dark fruit aromas joined by wisps of smoked meat and
toasty oak notes. On the palate, Dark cherry leads with a persistent core of
dried fruit notes, cranberry, plum and dark, dry fruit characteristics are
underscored by hints of licorice that lead to the finish of espresso, loads
of earth and black pepper notes. This 2005 Larose Trintaudon has firm
tannins and excellent acidity.
The Château Larose-Trintaudon Haut-Médoc 2005 is a blend of Cabernet
Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%). Barrel aging occurred in 100% French oak.
Vines were first planted at Larose-Trintaudon just outside the most famed
Bordeaux appellation Pauillac at the end of the 17th century. In 1858, Count
Ernest de Lahens built the Château and its tower that, to this day, watches
over the ocean of vines. Year after year, the estate's teams have worked in
the four century-old tradition while also looking forward to the future and
implementing a policy of sustainable development.
Grab cases of this, as it will be one of your last chances on a value priced
Bordeaux from 2005, heralded as one of Bordeaux's best vintages in the last
100 years."

".....it
is a real bargain....."
"Patrick Campbell of Sonoma’s Laurel Glen Winery is a
confirmed advocate of Argentine Malbec. Terra Rosa is one of three Malbecs
in Campbell’s line and at $11, it is a real bargain. Made from old vines
(80-plus years) and sustainably farmed, aged for 10 months in neutral oak
barrels with French and Hungarian oak inserts, the color is a very deep
purple ruby, while the low intensity aromatics are black fruits, mineral and
a hint of black pepper. Bright berry flavors are supported by nicely
integrated tannins and brisk acidity. The finish is long, fruity and 14.5%
alcohol. Although Campbell lives in California, his frequent trips to
Argentina and hands-on approach, are reflected in this value Malbec."

"The 2006 Cabernet contains 5% Petit Verdot and was aged for
16 months in a mix of new and used French oak. A glass-coating purple color,
it has an expressive perfume of toasty oak, pencil lead, black currant, and
blackberry. Layered, dense, and ripe, it has enough stuffing to blossom for
another 3-4 years. This lengthy effort should be at its best from 2011 to
2021."
