"Fabulous aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and flowers follow
through to a full-bodied palate, with supersilky tannins and amazing
richness and subtlety. Goes on for minutes on the palate. Best from 2010
through 2015." ($32)

"This
is as good a deal as you are going to get.....
.....from Priorat. The deep purple-colored 2007 La Cartuja is
50% Garnacha, 30% Carinena and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It
offers up an enticing nose of roasted minerals, lavender, incense, black
cherry, and blueberry. On the palate it has good grip, savory flavors, and a
lengthy finish. The wine could use a bit more depth but at this price who is
complaining?"

"This haunting wine evokes violet, black currant and slate aromas and
flavors, all defined by the taut, racy structure. Light-weight, lean and
intense, with a kaleidoscope of flavors on the expansive finish. Tensile.
Best from 2014 through 2032." ($42)

90
point Argentinean Cab......
"For the past few years, Famiglia Bianchi Cabernet has been a
wine well worth seeking out. The 2006 rendition displays an enticing
cassis-scented bouquet, fine balance, rich, multi-layered flavors, and a
long finish. Argentinean Malbec gets most of the hype these days, much of it
well-deserved, since no other country or region so excels with that
particular grape. In my experience, however, Cabernet from Argentina can be
every bit as good, and sometimes better. It may have more competition in the
marketplace, since good Cabs hail from many different places, but that does
nothing to diminish its luster."

"Bright ruby. Vibrant, seductive perfume of black raspberry, powdered
rose, anise and minerals. Weighty but lively cherry and dark berry flavors
are brightened by zesty minerals, picking up a candied licorice quality with
aeration. The finish repeats the deep dark berry note and leaves exotic
flowers and minerals behind. Very elegant wine that suavely blends richness
and finesse. (70% tempranillo, 20% garnacha and the rest mazuelo and
graciano)"($30)

at $13+ (when bought by the case) this is an UNBELIEVABLE VALUE... be sure

"The best white wine I've had in quite a while hit me this
past week: a 100% Verdejo Think HIGH-end Sancerre and under $20 on the
shelf... Great nuances of fig, citrus and melon finishing bone dry.
Wonderful white wine! Very classy stuff.
As we've all seen Sancerre's exceeding the $20-25 price points, we need
alternatives...
SHAYA!
I was told that this is a new project - a joint venture between Jorge
Ordonez, Enrique Busto and the Gil family of Jumilla (Juan Gil).
at $13+ this is an UNBELIEVABLE VALUE... be sure to get some!
And a pair of 89's can't hurt...."

"Light, bright yellow. Intensely perfumed bouquet of Kaffir lime, lemon
pith, mint and ginger, along with a subtle peppery undertone. Bracing and
sharply focused, offering pure citrus and green apple flavors complemented
by succulent herbs and spices. Finishes dry and precise, with the lime and
ginger notes repeating."

"Quite rich, but still graceful, this white shows melon, orange blossom,
green almond and lime zest flavors in a thick texture. Vibrant acidity keeps
this lively." Drink now through 2010."
