Too Good to be True......
We don't get these deals often, but when we do.....  We just posted this wine yesterday, December 3rd, and we're already seeing orders downloading from our web-site!.... We haven't even promoted it yet! I think, maybe, this is a winner?

"Perfectly ripe bunches are the result of our rigorous and labor-intensive process of hand leaf-thinning, allowing both air and sunlight into the "fruiting zone" which stimulates ripening of flavors and provides soft, ripe tannins. We grow our Cabernet Sauvignon in hillside vineyard blocks atop well-drained volcanic soils. Low yields are our goal, requiring multiple thinning passes. Judiciously applied drip irrigation keeps each vine balanced on the path to ripeness and fruit concentration. After double sorting and destemming, the cracked berries were allowed to progress in small tanks through indigenous, native yeast fermentation with a varied regime of cap management techniques. The extracted layers of flavor, concentrated texture, and nuance found their way to barrel... and ultimately into the bottle. Aged in 60% new, Taransaud-coopered, French oak for 16 months, and blended with additional estate-grown Bordeaux varietals to frame and enhance the Cabernet, the wine boasts perfumed aromas of black currants, blackberry jam, with hints of lavender, mocha and briar. The rich and expansive texture, bolstered by the ripe, velvety tannins, creates a lush mouthfeel and indicates cellar worthiness. It is neither fined nor filtered. Try the 2004 Chalk Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon with pan seared beef tenderloin served with sautéed pea shoots, baby carrots and blue cheese sauce."

Read this review.....
"In the glass: Monte Oton is a deeply opaque purplish color with an inky core going out into a rich violet-red rim definition with just a hint of fuchsia and high viscosity.

On the nose: This wine is speck-full of black fruit laced with pepper and crushed mixed berries. It is positively redolent of brimming ripe cherries, cranberry juice, liquid minerals and earth-driven notes of iodine, crushed black peppercorn and spice-laden fruit.

On the palate: Monte Oton is an explosion of concentrated, freshly crushed black cherries, black plum skins, black licorice, blackberry liqueur, beef jerky, creme de cassis and notes of roasted meats, smoked bacon and peppers. The midpalate is one of the most extracted for a wine in this category with yet more black licorice and cherry fruit, going into a well-balanced, structured finish that lasts for a good 25-plus seconds on the after-mouth with just a hint of peppercorns and herbs.

This is another good value from Spain, which is the go-to country for the smart wine consumer. All of the wines from Campo de Borja -- including its Borsao, which is superb -- are delicious, and most cost less than $10, including Monte Oton. This is a great food wine, and now that the weather is finally starting to cool off, it would work well with a nice pot of goulash or similar stew. As it is from the amazingly good vintage of 2008, it should easily drink well now through 2012."

"Best Italian Red I've had Under $40!!!.....
.....at $26+, when bought by the case of six, it is AN INSANE VALUE

You like Brunello? You like Sassicaia or Tignanello? or Giorgio Primo? Those are all great and well North of $50 per bottle.

This is better!

Inky red color leads to a fantastic, dense rich nose of black currant and black cherry fruits. Il Bruciato has density and presence. Amazingly silky with a long, long tuscan aftertaste that stains your teeth and makes you crave another sip.

Full bodied and rich with spicy soft tannins, this is delicious stuff. Drink it now or put it away for up to 8 years. The second wine to Guado al Tasso and very impressive! Mostly Cab, with a dollop of Merlot and Syrah."
