To create a single malt evocative of a trip to the ice cream parlour, legendary whisky maker Dr Bill Lumsden aged this one-off Glenmorangie in a combination of bourbon barrels and toasted new oak.

With the flavours of an ice-cream menu in their minds, Glenmorangie’s whisky creators married the Distillery’s first single malt aged in high-vanillin casks with whisky matured in bourbon casks, to bring Glenmorangie’s sweetest, creamiest flavours to their tantalizing best.

Aged in bourbon & high-vanillin casks
Vanillin is an aromatic compound which brings vanilla flavours to whisky. When you toast barrels, the lignin (which aids the wood’s structure) breaks down and releases compounds including vanillin. Our new oak casks have been especially toasted to bring out more vanilla qualities, hence these casks being called “high-vanillin” casks.
