The Glenturret - 7 Years Scotch Whiskey (700ml)

Nose

The smoke is present in the smell, mineral with an aspect of damp earth, quite dirty, but not maritime. Maybe some smoke flavor with a little bit of rubber. There is also a lot of sweetness, pineapple syrup. It's nice, but not particularly exciting and overall a bit thin.TasteThe smoke is present in the taste, it has a dirty aspect, but it also goes away quite quickly. And then there's a hole that the whisky can't fill. The alcohol can be felt despite the low strength; it burns a little, but unfortunately it doesn't push any flavors. The whisky is thin overall, which allows the alcohol to dominate after the smoke.

There's a slightly sweet, slightly acidic smoky note on the palate that I don't really like.

Where the unpeated Glenturrets completely convince me, the Peat Smoked ones cannot keep up. This is too thin in the mouthfeel and flavors for me, I have problems with the Glenturret smoke. I also tasted the 10-year-old again, but it didn't convince me this time either. A lactic acid note in the nosing bothers me and in the taste there are too few fruit aromas for me, even with the 10-year-old smoke, which I don't like. I haven't found the right approach to the smoky Glenturret yet.
