This family has been making wine on the slopes of Mount Etna since the eary 17th century. And in 1727 Emperor Charles VI of Augsburg, King of Naples, bestowed Don Carmelo Nicolosi with the title of Baron of Villagrande, making it the oldest operating winery on Etna. The family farms organic and uses chestnut barrels from their own forests for aging their wines.
90% Carricante and 10% other Indigenous Etna grapes.
Subtle firewood and charcuterie on the nose, hinting at volcanic soil. Medium-bodied with great acidity and minerality.
The Carricante grape was born on Etna and here on its native terroir, you'll find the most invigorating versions. Dry with a persistent mineral alongside floral aromas.
Certified OIrganic by SOStain (Save or Souls) and Ecogruppo Italia.
