Unlike Viogniers from the Rhone or Australia this Long Island version is light, delicate and crisp and crisp. A great wine for lighter foods, salads, etc.
Flavors of white peaches, honeysuckle, and sage come together in perfect harmony with natural acidity and a ripe, round texture. Pair this with bold Asian flavors or enjoy its kiss of sweetness as an aperitif.
Bedell Cellars Vineyard Manager Dave Thompson pioneered many sustainable-minded vineyard techniques tailored for Long Island’s climate – considered revolutionary at that time (1980's), but now widely practiced throughout the industry. Dave remains in the same position today and knows every vine at Bedell Cellars like the back of his hand.
Our Viognier grows on some of the oldest vines in North America. Fragrant and fruit forward, with a flinty minerality, the wine is fermented in steel from our sustainably grown grapes using indigenous yeasts. The 2022 vintage was unique and exceptional. Thomas Matthews of Wine Spectator said “This modest white is clean and fresh, with a touch of hard-candy sweetness to its tangerine and white peach flavors.”
