A blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Alicante Bouchet.
Sessanta means ‘sixty’ in Italian and was born in occasion of the celebration of the sixtieth years birthday of the founder of Tenuta Casteani, Mario Pelosi. Sessanta is the most evocative wine of this land offering the peculiarity and tradition of Tuscan Maremma that recalls our tradition and history. The wine is made out of two native grapes from this terroir: Sangiovese and Alicante Bouchet. We blended these grapes creating a modern wine, still very much anchored to this land.
Once the fermentation process is completed, we transfered its half into 25 hl oak barrels, where it maintained for 18th months, while the remaining half continous the refinement in stainless steel tanks.
The colour is a deep red ruby, on the nose the wine exhibits hints of red berries, floral and aromatic herbs of this land. Vibrant in the mouth, with its crispy and salty tannins. Sessanta is a very enjoyable and at the same time elegant and fine wine
