Billecart-Salmon vinifies base wines every year from a greater number of vineyards than it actually needs for the production of its main cuvees. The tasting committee of the estate tastes each of these base wines and selects only the best ones. Some of the wines that are not selected, as well as wine from younger vines are bottled to be part of a second wine from the house, Inspiration 1818. The number 1818 commemorates the year Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon are married in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the family’s home town.
Charles Le Bel “1818” Brut NV is a delicious, classic champagne with aromas of brioche, almonds and pears. An excellent quality/price ratio and an exceptional opportunity to get this champagne for parties and grandiose evenings.
The champagne house Billecart-Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ handles the vinification of this champagne. The grapes come from vineyards with younger vines.
