This beautiful, aromatic white Bordeaux from old vines is a blend of 60% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, and finally about 5% Muscadelle that brings even more fruit and spice. The grapes with an average age of 35 years are planted in complex soils of clay and limestone on fissured rock. The wine is fermented fermented and then aged for six months in stainless steel.
This wine is bone-dry with some fruity notes from the Sauvignon and Mucadelle.
Importers Note:
For several decades, this wine has been made mostly from old Semillon vines originally intended for the production of AOC Barsac-Sauternes great wines. Its exceptional terroir gives this wine a certain minerality and remarkable finesse. It is well balanced and beautifully tangy, with citrus notes that define the character of all vintages.
Aged in stainless steel for 6 months.
One of our longest-running relationships is with the Dubourdieu family, based southeast of Bordeaux in the commune of Barsac. Kermit started working with Simone Dubourdieu in the 1970s, importing the family’s Sauternes along with a “dry white Graves that I discovered at Chez Serge, my favorite Paris bistro. Their wine list is short, the wines impeccable, the prices fair, the food down-to-earth and superb.” This spirit continues to embody the wines of Château Ducasse, today managed by Simone’s son Hervé, his wife Sabine, and their sons Léon and André. Blended with two parts Sémillon to one part Sauvignon Blanc, the family’s Bordeaux blanc is crisp and racy, evoking citrus, stones, and spring flowers. It offers a perfect pairing for raw oysters or fresh goat cheeses.
