The flavors of black currants, raspberry and blackberry fruit is complemented with typical notes of earth, stone, cedar and tobacco and finishes with a touch of smoke and spice from 12 months in French oak (all used). This will age gracefully for 10+ years, but is certainly delicious now.
The Chateau La Caze Bellevue is a second label by Château Gravet, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. This former old property of the Countesses of Rochefort, has 32 acres planted just southeast of Libourne in St. Sulpice-de-Faleyrens along the Dordogne River rich soils in Saint-Emilion. This St.-Emilion shows elegant aromatics of raspberries and blackberries waft from the glass, intertwined with subtle notes of earth and spice. The very first sip showcases a vibrancy of youthful fruit with soft tannins to match.
The vineyards used by both labels are planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc with a vine age of between 30 to 50 years old.
