The most "classical" of the Deutz cuvees is far from mundane. The three different champagne grapes are blended in equal and unchanging proportions, ensuring it shows perfect harmony. Its golden color scintillates in the glass, with a fine stream of bubbles rising gracefully to the surface. The first impressions on the nose are mellow and reminiscent of acacia flowers, confectionery, Reinette apples, and brioche. The wine then gains in volume and its silky texture reveals a successful balance between the freshness of Chardonnay, the fruitiness and structure of Pinot Noir, and a touch of vinosity from the Pinot Meunier.
The key to the Brut Classic's distinctive style lies in using only top quality fruit and in selecting the finest crus (20 to 30) from the Marne area ; the final balance is achieved using only the three principal grape varieties of Champagne: Pinot Noir (1/3), Pinot Meunier (1/3) and Chardonnay (1/3).
Tasting Notes:
On the eye: The intense golden appearance is topped with a mousse of great finesse - the Deutz signature - characteristic of wines having benefited from long maturation on the lees.
On the nose: The wine initially displays floral notes (hawthorn blossom, white flowers,...), followed by aromas of toast, marzipan and ripe fruits (apples, pears,...).
On the palate: The freshness of the Chardonnay and the richness of the Pinot Noir enhance the wine's full-bodied elegance, presenting a wine with finely integrated aromas and a silky texture.
Pairing:
This “Classic” champagne is the most eclectic of the Deutz range: it is ideal as an aperitif and may also accompany a variety of fish dishes (salmon, turbot, John Dory), poultry and white meats.
This is very dry with apple, praline and pie-crust character. It’s full, layered and gorgeous with a lovely, creamy texture. The base is from the 2017 vintage, one third each of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier. 4/2021.
Very approachable and refreshing citrus, apples and brioche aromas. Refined palate with toasty and honeyed almond notes. Harmonious finish. Blend: 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Pinot Meunier, 33% Chardonnay.
Open and expressive, the latest NV Brut Classic from Deutz offers up aromas of green pear, peach, pastry cream and flowers. Medium to full-bodied and fleshy but precise, it's elegant and charming, with a seamless profile and considerable immediate appeal.
In the delicate, elegant style that is the Deutz house hallmark, this Champagne is beautifully understated, with its balance and touches of toast in harmony. This bottling is ready to drink. Roger Voss, 12/31/2021.
