The 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova is focused on elegance, refinement and pleasantness of drinking. Enveloping aromas of strawberry, raspberry and blood orange are woven together with floral and spicy scents. The mouthfeel is juicy and well balanced; it offers a smooth drink thanks to an excellent freshness and a velvet and well integrated tannic texture, a recurring element in Elvio Cogno's Barolo wines, but particularly accentuated in this 2018 vintage.
The 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova is fine-tuned with plenty of wild berry, cassis, grilled herb and crushed stone. The aromas are quite classic for Nebbiolo, but what stands out here is the directness and freshness with which they are delivered. The tannins are tucked carefully inside the smooth, silky character of this elegant wine.
Enticing aromas of red berries, citrus fruit and flowers follow through to a bright, silky palate with medium body and very fine tannins. Lacks a bit of body this year, but it’s bright, balanced and well focused.
Floral aromas of rose and iris mingle with red berry and tilled earth on this perfumed red. Elegantly structured, the vibrant palate offers juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry and star anise before a savory, almost salty finish. Taut, refined tannins and bright acidity keep it balanced. Drink through 2030.
Starts out savory, offering juniper, eucalyptus and mint notes swirling around a core of cherry and plum fruit. Sleek, vibrant and firm, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit and herbs. Best from 2025.
