Since the 1980s, this grape variety with its distinctive and powerful aroma has enjoyed great popularity in the Oltradige region. The stony limestone gravel soils and the cool fall winds produce a lively and expressive Sauvignon. Freshness and delicate minerality paired with melting and elegance make the Sauvignon Fallwind a stylish white wine.
The evening downdrafts of the Mendola Massif give the entire terroir of the St. Michael-Eppan winery their character: they ensure the cool nights that give the grapes their extraordinary properties, shaping the fragrance, the unmistakable freshness and longevity of the wines. The downdraft (= “FALLWIND”) is the natural element that blows over the vineyards every day, exerting a positive influence on the climate and supporting the valuable work of the winegrowers.
FALLWIND. The power of nature.
For over a century the St. Michael-Eppan Winery, with 320 winemaking families and over 950 acres of vineyards, has been supporting the most important wine-growing municipality: Appiano on the South Tyrolean Wine Road at the doorstep of the Dolomites. The innovative winery situated along the Wine Route, is considered one of the best wineries in South Tyrol and Italy.
Nettle, fennel, gooseberry and white grapefruit on the nose. Fresh and vibrant, with a medium body and a crunchy, gently herbaceous and zesty palate. Hints of white pepper at the end.
