A very dense and mineral malbec from Gualtallary that has abundant chalky tannins. Dense and structured with blueberries, stones, graphite, cigar box and a hint of dark chocolate and balsamic fruit. Full-bodied, muscular but fully resolved, with a great, lengthy finish that lasts over 30 seconds. The absence of mid-palate fleshiness makes it more attractively austere. Better from 2025.
From Paraie Altamira, Gualtallary and Vista Flores, the 2018 Malbec Bressano was aged for 18 months in French barrels, 4/5 of them new. The liqueur-like nose offers notes of cigar box with dark and red fruit ranging from blackberry to sour cherry alongside jarilla and faint floral aromas. The palate is full of gentle, refined, grippy tannins, mild freshness and a contained power in which the flavors linger at length.
Quite complex nose of fruit confits and mint, with meaty and peppery overtones. Appealing structure with a lot of concentration. (Silver) - Decanter World Wine Awards 2021.
