- Founded in the year 640 by the month of the Cluny abbey, Gevrey Chambertin is the entrance of the most celebrated vineyards of Côte d'Or.
- With Gevrey Chambertin Vielles Vignes, both cuvée are GEANTET-PANSIOT's flagships, a landmark of Pinot Noir's elegance, purity and precision.

Allen Meadows described this 2022 wine in his tasting note as “EXCELLENT for a village level wine, and WORTH CHECKING OUT”!  put it under the 2022 "TOP VALUE SELECTION” and gave it an arrow —> symbol meaning “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention”

Geantet Pansiot Description

From the Importer:

The Pansiot favor natural extraction and the fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. Pre-fermentative cold maceration and light carbonic maceration are carried out to obtain a rarely equaled fruit intensity. The fermentations are launched with native yeasts and the process is different each year depending on the typicality of the vintage.

Aged for 14 months in barrels renewed with 30% new wood, without racking, fining, clarification or filtration. The estate has beautiful vaulted cellars dating from 1840 to age the wines.

The wines of DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT show three particular characteristics:
- a very crunchy and gourmet fruitiness,
- an exceptional density,
- and an impressive aging potential.

Very discrete but well-known from connoisseurs, the DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT has quietly moved up toward the elite of Gevrey-Chambertin. The Geantet-Pansiot estate was founded in 1954 when Edmond Geantet married Bernadette Pansiot and the newlyweds started to make wine on 3 hectares / 7 acres of vineyard spread on both Gevrey-Chambertin and Bourgogne designations. After having enlarged the domaine with the purchase of other hectares, in 1977, their son Vincent joined them in the family business and has been in charge since 1989. A third generation is in the wings as Vincent’s son, Fabien, has been working with his dad since the age of twelve, officially joining him in 2006. Fabien GEANTET is therefore the third generation to farm the vineyard created in 1954 by his grand-parents.

The trust shared between father and son allows the domaine to rapidly optimize its production and to implement new methods successfully. GEANTET-PANSIOT has acquired the plots year after year. Radiating from its cellars located in the emblematic village of Gevrey-Chambertin, the DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT today farms 24 ha / 59 acres mainly in Côte de Nuits, but also in Côte de Beaune. The domaine farms plots in 1er Cru climats such as Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Le Poissenot, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes & Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes, as well as Grand Crus such as Charmes Chambertin.

Burghound: 89-92 Points

Subtle but not invisible wood sets off ripe and more deeply pitched aromas of red cherry, currant and whiffs of the sauvage. The rich, generous and concentrated medium-bodied flavors flash evident power and minerality while delivering fine length on the balanced, mildly rustic and built-to-age finale. This is also excellent for a villages-level wine and also worth checking out.

Note: from a wide mix of Brochon vines planted between 1922 and 1961 that average 60+ years of age. Here too there is enough wood to notice on the array of poached plum, black cherry and forest floor aromas. The very suave, indeed almost plush, medium weight flavors exhibit outstanding power and drive on the rustic, robust and compact finale. This is a classic Gevrey villages that delivers first-rate quality. Recommended.*Burghound Top Value!*.1/2024.
