Geantet Pansiot Description

Tasting Notes
Nose with citrus, white flowers, grilled and toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is ample and fat, along to a pretty minerality.

Winemaking
Harvest is made by hand before an ultra-rigorous sorting to preserve the fruit’s pure quintessence. Indigenous yeasts. Vinified and aged for 18 months in oaks barrels, 50% new. Bottled at the estate.

Geantet-Pansiot Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits blanc is grown on a 1,50 ha / 3,7 acres vineyard, with vines planted in 1980-1985 on clay-limestone soils on the heights of Gevrey-Chambertin.

The Pansiot favor natural extraction and the fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. Pre-fermentative cold maceration and light carbonic maceration are carried out to obtain a rarely equaled fruit intensity. The fermentations are launched with native yeasts and the process is different each year depending on the typicality of the vintage.

Aged for 14 months in barrels renewed with 30% new wood, without racking, fining, clarification or filtration. The estate has beautiful vaulted cellars dating from 1840 to age the wines.

The wines of DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT show three particular characteristics:
- a very crunchy and gourmet fruitiness,
- an exceptional density,
- and an impressive aging potential.

Very discrete but well-known from connoisseurs, the DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT has quietly moved up toward the elite of Gevrey-Chambertin. The Geantet-Pansiot estate was founded in 1954 when Edmond Geantet married Bernadette Pansiot and the newlyweds started to make wine on 3 hectares / 7 acres of vineyard spread on both Gevrey-Chambertin and Bourgogne designations. After having enlarged the domaine with the purchase of other hectares, in 1977, their son Vincent joined them in the family business and has been in charge since 1989. A third generation is in the wings as Vincent’s son, Fabien, has been working with his dad since the age of twelve, officially joining him in 2006. Fabien GEANTET is therefore the third generation to farm the vineyard created in 1954 by his grand-parents.

The trust shared between father and son allows the domaine to rapidly optimize its production and to implement new methods successfully. GEANTET-PANSIOT has acquired the plots year after year. Radiating from its cellars located in the emblematic village of Gevrey-Chambertin, the DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT today farms 24 ha / 59 acres mainly in Côte de Nuits, but also in Côte de Beaune. The domaine farms plots in 1er Cru climats such as Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Le Poissenot, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes & Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes, as well as Grand Crus such as Charmes Chambertin.
