IGNI is a joint venture between Jeff Porter and Shelley Lindgren, two of America’s most Italian-focused sommeliers. Passionate for the volcanic soils of Italy, the duo’s mission is to highlight the unique and ashy growing sites of Italy’s Basilicata region. Fruit for this varietal Aglianico is hand-harvested and native yeast fermented in steel tanks. After ten days of maceration, the wine is racked into used barriques and ages for 12 months (followed by an additional 18 months in bottle). The medium-bodied wine is noted with flavors of cherry, ripe strawberry, minerals and violets. Total production is 6,500 bottles. Perfect for pairing with pizza or pasta at home.
