Founded in 1890 Finca La Celia is the oldest winery in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina.
It was also the first winery in the region to plant the Malbec variety, which is currently the country’s signature variety around the world.
La Celia's 2019 Malbec Elite comes from Paraje Altamira. A purplish red in color. The attractively mild nose has a fruity character with notes of plum and blackberry along with hints of sour cherry and herbs. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied with a juicy flow while grip is brought by the fine, active but delicate tannins. A gentle take on the region’s character and flavors. Drinking Window: 2021 - 2029. Joaquín Hidalgo, 11/2021.
Dried herbs and smoke are followed by fresh red plum and blackberry. Hints of thyme add to the moderate complexity of this lively Malbec. It has firm tannins and a persistent finish. Jesica Vargas, 12/1/2022.
