Lake & Vine by Jed Steele Description

Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from the Red Hills of Lake County, a gold mine for growing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon (86%), Merlot (8%), Syrah (3%) and Petit Verdot (3%). This wine exudes a deep purple color in the glass with stunning aromas of concentrated plums, dark cherries and blackberries with subtle hints of spice and currant. Only about 3% of wines are grown above 1,100 feet elevation, Lake & Vine Cabernet Sauvignon is one of them. The grapes are grown 2,200 feet elevation on a vineyard in the lower slopes of an extinct volcano, which unveils soils rich in obsidian and quartz. Some say this reflection helps to mature and ripen the grapes. Lake & Vine Cabernet Sauvignon complements and celebration.

Crafted by Jed Steele, an industry veteran whose career has spanned six decades in California, Lake & Vine Wines are representative of the best fruit each site of Lake County has to offer.
As a result of unique soil and climate, Lake County offers a versatile selection of varietals just north of Napa Valley.

My winemaking tenure in Lake County began in 1983, when I was hired to start a small winery, Kendall Jackson. After 33 years, I still an here making wine, the last 25 years at my own winery. Since'83 I have come to know the vineyard sites in this mountainous county, just north of Napa. These are the vineyards I have chosen for the Lake and Vine project, which are produced at our winery situated in the countryside of western Lake County...I am proud to create Lake & Vine wines.

Millions of years after the Clear Lake Volcano field was formed, rocks and rich minerals have been left behind to create an extraordinary and unique soil. Together, the high altitude, exceptional climate, and volcanic soils of the region make it a truly unique location for winemaking.
