Sutter Home White Merlot isn't a white wine at all, but a dark blush wine that's made from red Merlot grapes. To achieve its bright, light red color, winemakers divide the grapes: one lot goes directly to the press without crushing to minimize the extraction of color from the grape skins; the remaining lots are crushed and pressed and have a dark red color. Winemakers then blend the juice together, giving the wine its unique and pretty color. The wine is cold-fermented at 60°F in stainless steel tanks to enhance the White Merlot's fresh cherry flavors and vivid aromas. Best served chilled, enjoy this delightful wine alongside crispy fried chicken, pineapple-glazed ham, and a selection of dim sum.
