This aromatic, bright-fruited barbera comes from the small Piemontese village of Castellania. It was the hometown of Marina Coppi’s father - one of the greatest cyclists of all time - and it’s now where Marina’s son, Francesco, hand-crafts small quantities of wine from native grape varieties. His barbera is round, juicy, and exceptionally food-friendly.

Tastes like: Red cherry, thyme, white pepper.

Vivid aromas of fresh and candied sour red cherries barrel out of the glass, followed by tea, rosebud and earth. The lifted palate is driven by the tart red fruits giving way to a black tea note on the finish. Jeff Porter,
