"Nathan K. Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc 2020
Nathan Kendall makes excellent rieslings and pinot noirs west of Seneca Lake, as well as the superb Chepika sparkling wines, made in partnership with the sommelier and restaurateur Pascaline Lepeltier. This is his first cabernet franc, and it’s gorgeous. It’s intended to be easygoing, and is lively and energetic, with aromas and flavors of fresh raspberries, flowers and an earthy, chalky undertone. Mr. Kendall bottles it without any additives, so keep it cool and enjoy."
A Cabernet Franc that due to great warm and dry growing conditions compares favorably with Samur Cabernet Francs from the Loire Valley.
This Cabernet Franc comes from the Tuller Vineyard located on the west side of Seneca Lake on loamy-silt soils, the berries are destemmed but left uncrushed for the short fermentation. After pressing the wine rested for just three weeks in neutral French oak, and then was bottled unfined and without any additives. Pure cherry and tangy raspberry show here, with a hint of earth and spice on the finish.
N. Kendall wines was founded in 2011 by Finger Lakes native Nathan Kendall. He is an internationally trained Winemaker who has experience in Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Waipara (New Zealand), Adelaide Hills (Australia), and Mosel (Germany), although the plan was always to return to the shores of Seneca Lake. His passion is to create wines in an old world style using quality grapes and minimal intervention.
