The reputation of the Château has been well-established since 1770. At that time the winemaker of the domain earned the sobriquet, “The king of grape varieties”.
Then in 1872, this superb property was handed over to the Family of the General de Moncets. Bought in 2012 by a French family company, the vines and cellars have been totally rehabilitated in order to sustain the vineyard and to integrate a second vineyard the “Château de Chambrun”. Through much patience, a contiguous domain was developed at the crossroads of four vineyards known for their prestigious crus: Montagne, Néac, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol.
Grown in the heart of the France’s Bordeaux region, the 50 acre estate of AOC Lalande-De-Pomerol is cultivated in accordance with sustainable agricultural methods.
This wine is structured, with a core of tannins that need to soften. It has potential as a rich, full wine, packed with blackberry fruits and a spicy character from wood aging. Drink the wine from 2021. Roger Voss, 12/1/2019.
